Mo scéal - My Story
A few years ago, I found myself at a friend’s wedding completely captivated by the celebrant. There was something about the role that I was just so taken by - the storytelling, the emotion, the humour, the way one person could hold space while telling the story of two people.
Six months later, while visiting friends in Canada, they asked me to officiate their wedding day. That little spark of curiosity suddenly came to life, and I remember thinking: if the people who know me best trust me with such an important role on one of the most important days of their lives, maybe they see something in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself.
As the Irish seanfhocail goes:
“Is maith an scáthán súil charad.”
A friend’s eye is a good mirror.

The story behind the name & logo
“Bhí mé ar mo sháimhín só” - I was at my ease.
In Irish, sámh and só evoke a sense of comfort, ease and rest. When I was starting my business, I wanted a name that reflected both my love for the Irish language and how I wanted people to feel when they were working with me - comfortable, relaxed and completely at ease. And so, Sáimhín Só Ceremonies was born.
My logo brings together some of the things that feel most connected to who I am and what I want my ceremonies to represent.
The mountains and sea reflect the Irish landscape - places of beauty, grounding and connection. The mountain represents strength and stability, teaching us how to face the uphill battles we encounter in life, céim ar chéim. The sea captures the ever-changing nature of life, reminding us to embrace its ebb and flow.
The Celtic spiral is a nod to Ireland’s rich heritage and the idea of life as a continuous journey. Its endless, flowing form reflects how our stories continue to unfold, with each chapter connected to the one before it.
The colours were chosen to bring these ideas together. Gorm is the sea - calm and serene, yet fierce and wild. Glas is Éire herself, her landscape, culture, traditions and language. Corcra, for me, represents the unknown - the deep mysteries of life and the magic that can exist within it.
